All about turbochargers

fonctionnement d'un turbo

Turbochargers, precisely engineered to strict tolerances, play a key role in engine performance. Unlike a naturally aspirated engine, a turbocharged engine uses the energy of exhaust gases to drive the turbine that compresses the air before it enters the cylinder. This process enables better combustion, generally up to 40% more than a naturally aspirated engine.

In case of failure, replacement turbochargers are easy to obtain, helping minimize downtime and get your equipment back in service as quickly as possible.

Very high temperatures

Some Perkins® engine turbochargers operate at speeds of up to 180,000 revolutions per minute, often for hours, which results in very high temperatures. This means that the manufacturing processes require a very precise level of tolerance.

Precision in manufacturing is key

A typical turbocharger is manufactured with tolerances of about 1/1000th of a millimeter.

Its repair often proves complex and costly. The simplest solution is to replace the faulty turbocharger.

By purchasing a genuine Perkins part, you can be sure of acquiring a component that meets the specifications of the engine concerned.

A complete warranty

Like all Perkins parts, all new turbochargers come with a full 12-month warranty from the date of purchase.

Fast Facts

Perkins turbochargers:

1. Are precisely manufactured with tolerances of about one-thousandth of a millimeter. That is 1/100th the thickness of a standard sheet of paper.

2. Operate at speeds of up to 180,000 rpm, which is 180 times faster than a washing machine drum spinning at 1,000 rpm.
